1000 blog posts – shows just how long the Straitgate pantomime has been running

The last post What part of ‘NO’ do quarry companies not understand? was the 1000th on this blog site – a site that first posted A blog for Straitgate back in 2012.

Little did we know then how long this debacle would go on for. Little did we know then what a pig’s ear Aggregate Industries would make of the whole process. Back then, we said:

We have set [the blog] up with the aim of keeping Straitgate Farm and its threat from quarrying in the public eye.

And in that sense, with readers far and wide, we continue to achieve that.

Forthcoming changes from Google:

By 29 September 2016, the Search Box gadget on this blog will only present search results from this blog. Search results from pages linked in your posts, from the web or from the Blog List and Link List gadgets will no longer be presented.

We recently announced that the Google Feed API would be retired. As a result, the Slideshow gadget will no longer function and we will remove it from your blog by 29 September 2016.

A blog for Straitgate

This is our first entry on this new blog. We have set it up with the aim of keeping Straitgate Farm and its threat from quarrying in the public eye. The consultation is about to close and DCC will consider the responses before voting in the autumn on whether to include Straitgate Farm as a Preferred Site for sand and gravel quarrying in its Minerals Plan. We are grateful to Claire Wright and her blog for doing such a good job at publicising the issues and letting people know what's been going on. This site should enable us to flesh out some of the detail, allow us to feed back any news, answer any questions the best we can, and facilitate a 'forum' on Straitgate issues within the comments section. More information will be added in due course. If anyone has any suggestions we'd be pleased to hear them. In the meantime, many thanks to all our contributors and other group members.
